Nicolas Koechlin (1781-1852): industrialist mulhousien and appointed of Haut-Rhin (1830-1841), is interested since 1830 in progress of the railroad. He finances on his own capital stocks constructions of the lines Mulhouse - Thann and Strasbourg - Basle. In spite of the technical success of these operations, money worries make him sell the major part of its goods to fill the fall of the actions of its companies like paying refundings of loans. In 1849, it resigns, ruined, of the Company from Strasbourg in Basle and the following year of that of Mulhouse with Thann.
Pierre Domenica Bazaine (1809-1893): elder brother of the Marshal Achilles Bazaine, polytechnician, becomes Engineer of district of the Bridges and Chaussées with Altkirch. He is in charge of the studies of the line of Mulhouse with Thann; then, with Mr. Chaperon, it writes the project of the section Strasbourg - Basle. There remains Directeur of the railroads of Alsace until 1842; then reinstates the service of the State where it supervises various railway companies in North, Bourbonnais and Charentes.
Nicolas Cadiat (1803-1856): Engineer of the technical school of Trawl-nets; after a passage in the Rissler workshops and Dixon with Cernay, directs, of 1835 to 1841, the construction of the machines with vapor at André Koechlin and Co, it organizes then the DE DIETRICH factories in Reichshoffen.
